« If one could be shot out of the Earth to fly into space, and if sound could be transmitted so far, or if the ear had the qualities of a super-machine, one would listen to the overall sound, the sonic footprint of the earth. That noise would be made of all the earth sounds : human, animal, mechanical, natural. And if the ear could zoom to an area, it would be able to hear the sonic footprint of this region. And if you could zoom in even further, you could hear families of sounds or individual sounds. This is what "Geografia Sonora" is: a flight, a trip, an imaginary zooming above the Mediterranean, its countries and their sounds ». GS "Geografia Sonora" is a sound and video installation on the theme of the sea. An imaginary sound "constellation", a "chorus" of voices, sound signals, as well as natural and mechanical sounds from countries bordering the Mediterranean. Micro-transformations of the image and re-composition of the soundscape will be generated in real time ad infinitum - there is no fixed duration, beginning or end. The video image is the result of a continuous changing of a sparkling sea. The sea changes in colour, luminosity and density and becomes a constellation of lights. The sound space is organized as an archipelago of "sound islands". The navigation between the "islands", the movement of sound in space, recall the travel, the exchange or the meeting. A "sound navigation map", a computer program within the environment Max/Msp Spat Jitter is specially designed for "Geografia Sonora." The sounds of the installation are collected by my "informants" in their respective countries or are found in archives. Français « Si l’on pouvait être propulsé loin de la Terre et s’envoler dans l'espace, si le son pouvait être transmis aussi loin, si l'oreille avait les caractéristiques d'une super-machine, l’on pourrait entendre un son global, l'empreinte sonore de la terre - un bruit qui serait fait de tous les sons terrestres, humains, animaux, mécaniques, naturels. Si l'oreille pouvait zoomer sur une zone précise, elle en entendrait l'empreinte sonore. Et si elle pouvait zoomer encore, on entendrait des familles de sons ou des sons isolés. C’est cela, la "Géographie Sonore" : un envol, un voyage, un zoom imaginaire sur la Méditerranée, ses pays et ses sons ». GS "Geografia Sonora" est une installation sonore et visuelle sur le thème de la mer. Une "constellation" sonore imaginaire, un "chœur" fait de voix, de signaux sonores, de sons naturels et mécaniques provenant des pays côtiers de la Méditerranée. Les micro-transformations de l’image et la re-composition du paysage sonore seront générées en temps réel à l’infini - il n'y a ni durée fixe, ni début ou fin. L’image vidéo vient d'un plan fixe d'une mer scintillante en mouvement perpétuel. L’image change en couleur, luminosité et densité pour se transformer en constellation de lumières. L'espace sonore est organisé tel un archipel d'"îles sonores". La navigation entre les "îles", le mouvement des sons dans l’espace, évoque le voyage, l'échange ou la rencontre. La "carte de navigation", un programme informatique au sein de l’environnement Max/Msp Spat Jitter, est spécialement conçu pour "Geografia Sonora". Les sons de l'installation sont collectés par mes "informateurs" dans leurs pays respectifs ou sont trouvés dans des archives. Ελληνικά « Αν μπορούσε κανείς να εκτοξευθεί έξω από την γη, και μπορούσε να πετάξει στο διάστημα, κι αν ο ήχος μεταδίδονταν τόσο μακριά, ή αν το αυτί είχε τις ιδιότητες μιας υπερ-μηχανής, θα άκουγε κανείς έναν συνολικό ήχο, το ηχητικό αποτύπωμα της γης - ένα θόρυβο που θα αποτελούνταν απ’όλους τους γήινους ήχους, ανθρώπινους, ζωικούς, μηχανικούς, φυσικούς. Κι αν μπορούσε το αυτί να ζουμάρει σε μια περιοχή, θα άκουγε το ηχητικό αποτύπωμα αυτής της περιοχής. Κι αν μπορούσε να ζουμάρει κι άλλο θα μπορούσε να ακούσει οικογένειες ήχων ή και ήχους μεμονωμένους. Αυτή είναι η "Ηχογεωγραφία": μια πτήση, ένα ταξίδι, ένα φανταστικό ζουμ στη Μεσόγειο, τις χώρες της και τους ήχους τους ». ΓΣ Η Ηχογεωγραφία είναι μια εγκατάσταση βίντεο και ήχου με θέμα τη θάλασσα. Είναι ένας φανταστικός ηχητικός « αστερισμός », ένας « χορός » από φωνές, ηχητικά σήματα, ήχους φυσικούς και μηχανικούς από τις χώρες που « ακουμπούν » στη Μεσόγειο. Οι μικρο-μεταμορφώσεις της εικόνας και η ανασύνθεση του ηχητικού τοπίου δημιουργείται σε πραγματικό χρόνο επ’ άπειρον μέσω υπολογιστή - δεν υπάρχει καθορισμένη διάρκεια, αρχή ή τέλος. Το βίντεο είναι μιά θάλασσα σε συνεχή κίνηση που στραφταλίζει. Μιά θάλασσα-ύλη που αλλάζει χρώμα, φωτεινότητα και πυκνότητα για να μεταμορφωθεί σε έναν αστερισμό από φώτα. Το ηχητικό τοπίο είναι οργανωμένο σαν ένα αρχιπέλαγος « ηχητικών νησιών ». Η πλοήγηση μεταξύ των « νησιών », και η κίνηση του ήχου στο χώρο, παραπέμπουν στην έννοια του ταξιδιού, της συνάντησης και της ανταλλαγής. Το ταξίδι αυτό γίνεται με τη βοήθεια ενός « χάρτη ηχητικής πλοήγησης » - ένα πρόγραμμα ηλεκτρονικού υπολογιστή ειδικά σχεδιασμένο για την Ηχογεωγραφία μέσα στο περιβάλλον Max/Msp Spat Jitter. Η Ηχογεωγραφία είναι έργο συμμετοχικό όπου το ηχητικό υλικό μπορεί να εμπλουτίζεται για πάντα. Οι ήχοι συλλέγονται από « δωρητές » στις χώρες τους ή από αρχεία. |
